Scan-Plast Latvia’s Saulgriežu Park – in the spirit of the brightest holiday of the year

This summer, Scan-Plast Latvia, located at 185 Brīvības Street in Liepāja, created a special Midsummer Park where everyone could enjoy the festive Latvian atmosphere, explore our fiberglass decorations, and spend time with family and friends.

On display in the park were Latvian symbols crafted from fiberglass: the Sun Symbol, which symbolizes eternal movement, the force of life, light, and harmony; the St. John’s Symbol—a symbol of masculine strength, activity, and fertility; Jumis—a symbol of the earth’s fertility, the beginning of life, and prosperity—as well as the Oak (Ozolītis)—a symbol of the universe, the center of the world, and its foundation. These compositions reflected the richness of our culture and the traditions of the Summer Solstice.

The festive atmosphere was further enhanced by our fiberglass strawberries and cows, but the centerpiece was our fire-safe fiberglass bonfire. Not only did it visually capture visitors’ attention, but it also played melodies characteristic of the Līgo spirit and the crackling sounds of a fire.

The strawberries displayed throughout the area served as a reminder of summer in full bloom, while cows have long symbolized wealth, prosperity, and fertility in Latvian culture. In the past, on Līgo Eve, they were decorated with maypoles and Midsummer herbs, wishing blessings upon the farm and a bountiful milk harvest.

The impressive haystacks also gave the park a special atmosphere, reminding many visitors of the landscapes once so common in the Latvian countryside.

For visitors’ convenience, picnic tables and various types of swings were available on the grounds, creating a pleasant environment for leisurely relaxation.

Visitors had the opportunity to participate in a contest and win valuable prizes.

We were delighted by everyone who visited the park, captured the festive moments, and together created a heartfelt Midsummer atmosphere.

Although the festival has already passed, the Solstice Park remains open to visitors throughout the summer, allowing them to enjoy the magical atmosphere even longer, view the decorations, and relax in a unique setting.
