Scan-Plast Latvia Midsummer Park – Celebrating the Brightest Days of the Year
This summer, Scan-Plast Latvia created a special Midsummer Park at 185 Brīvības Street, Liepāja, where visitors could immerse themselves in the spirit of traditional Latvian Midsummer celebrations, discover our fiberglass decorations, and enjoy quality time with family and friends.
The park featured a collection of fiberglass sculptures representing traditional Latvian symbols. Among them was the Sun Sign, symbolizing the eternal cycle of life, vitality, light, and harmony; the Jāņa Sign, representing masculine strength, energy, and fertility; the Jumis, a symbol of abundance, fertility, prosperity, and the beginning of life; and the Ozols (Ozolītis), symbolizing the universe, the center of the world, and strength. Together, these installations celebrated Latvia’s rich cultural heritage and longstanding Midsummer traditions.
Adding to the festive atmosphere were our signature fiberglass strawberries and cows, while the park’s centerpiece was our fire-safe fiberglass bonfire. Beyond serving as a striking visual attraction, it enhanced the experience by playing traditional Līgo melodies and the crackling sounds of a real bonfire.
The fiberglass strawberries represented the abundance of the summer season, while the cows reflected a long-standing symbol of wealth, prosperity, and fertility in Latvian culture. Traditionally, on Midsummer Eve, cows were decorated with leafy branches and wild herbs as a blessing for the household and in hopes of a plentiful milk harvest.
For visitors’ comfort, the park also offered picnic tables and a variety of swings, creating a welcoming space to relax and enjoy the summer atmosphere at a leisurely pace.
The impressive haystacks added another authentic touch, reminding many visitors of the traditional rural landscapes that were once a familiar sight throughout the Latvian countryside.
Guests also had the opportunity to participate in a prize competition and win valuable gifts.
We were delighted to see everyone who visited the park, captured memorable moments, and helped us create a warm and joyful Midsummer atmosphere together.
Although the Līgo and Jāņi celebrations have now passed, the Scan-Plast Latvia Midsummer Park remains open throughout the summer, giving visitors the opportunity to continue enjoying the festive ambiance, explore the decorations, and relax in this unique outdoor setting.
